Channel 12 journalist Amir Alon passed away today (Wednesday). Alon, 39 at the time of his death, has served for the past two years as head of a desk, magazine reporter and economics reporter for the N12 system.
Alon came to work on the N12 about two years ago after previously working for Yedioth Ahronoth and the Ynet website as a welfare reporter and news editor.
During his work he focused mainly on political interviews and coverage of social struggles, including: the struggle to raise disability benefits, demonstrations by Ethiopians and a protest against the deportation of children of foreign workers.
He published his last article just a few hours ago – The Dan bus company refuses to launch a campaign against Lieberman.
News 12 stated: “Tonight we said goodbye to our friend N12 reporter Amir Alon. Amir, 39, gave us a lot of his wisdom and dedication. For two years he did professional, deep and sensitive journalistic work. He has served as a magazine reporter, economist and head of a desk. He is survived by many parents, a sister and many friends at the N12 desk. Of blessed memory”
His close friends in the editorial board praised him: “Amir was a gifted journalist and a perfectionist who would not give up a single comma or syllable before publishing his news. He was a witty and sharp man who maintained modesty and humility and was loved by all who knew him. His heart aches with the hard news of his untimely passing. “
His co-workers said that Alon was: “A determined media man with unparalleled intelligence, professionalism and dedication. But first of all – a rational voice, who was the first to reach out and jump to the shift when they needed a replacement and left the desk with his feet on the ground. A huge heart that bleeds. ”
Alon left behind parents and a sister.
