From noon: Heavy air pollution in the Negev and the Arava

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Health warn that today (Monday) from noon onwards there will be high to very high air pollution in the Negev and the Arava, due to high concentrations of respirable particles; A gradual improvement in air quality is expected during Tuesday. The high air pollution is associated with a deep depression over the eastern Mediterranean with very strong southwesterly winds, which causes dust congestion from Sinai and local sandstorms.

In light of this, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, together with the Ministry of Health, recommends that sensitive populations – including heart patients, lung patients, the elderly, children and pregnant women – avoid strenuous physical activity outside. For the general population it is recommended to reduce strenuous exercise outside. A gradual improvement in air quality is expected during Tuesday.

The Ministry of Environmental Protection and the Ministry of Health will continue to update the public as required in accordance with the forecast data and data measured at monitoring stations across the country.
