Soroka: A Corona patient in the 60s who was found to be positive for the omicron strain died at the hospital

A man in his 60s, ill in Corona with the Omicron variant, died yesterday (Monday) at Soroka Hospital in Be’er Sheva. The man, who suffered from severe and multiple background illnesses, was hospitalized in the Corona ward about two weeks ago in critical condition. Most of its morbidity was due to background diseases and not pneumonia as a result of coronary heart disease.

The initial PCR test raised suspicion of the presence of the omicron variant and therefore the tests were sent for genetic flooring. A positive response to the identification of the Omicron variant was received yesterday afternoon after his death.

From Soroka reported: "We share the family’s grief."
