The president talked to the pope about Christmas

President Yitzhak Herzog called Pope Francis today (Thursday) and wished him a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year on behalf of the citizens of Israel and the entire State of Israel.

The President stressed that Israel is fully committed to safeguarding the well-being and status of Christian communities and communities in the Holy Land and throughout the Middle East. The president told the pope about his recent visit to the Church of the Annunciation in the city of Nazareth and added that Israel embraces the Christian minority in its vicinity and is committed to freedom of worship. In their conversation the president and the pope expressed hope and prayer for peace and coexistence in the region.
