A call was received yesterday (Thursday) at the center of the “Friends” organization, about two toddlers who were locked in a car, near the “Tiferet” kindergarten in Ofakim. Volunteers from the organization’s branch in Netivot responded to the call and rushed to the scene and rescued the two toddlers, without causing any damage to the vehicle.
Ron tells: "I was on my way to pick up my children from kindergarten, when the emergency call was received about a child locked in a car, near the kindergarten. The vehicle was driven and a parent bustle around it. I started preparing for the opening and suddenly saw that another girl, about three years old, was sitting in the back seat, whom I had not seen at first because of the dark car windows. I took over the management of the event, kept the worried parents away and patiently instructed the girl to open the window. And so, without using our equipment we were able to open the vehicle and take the children out to their father, who was excited and breathed a sigh of relief that the incident was behind him quickly and efficiently. He hugged his daughter who managed to open the car. Just yesterday there was another case in Ofakim that I rescued a four-month-old boy, immense satisfaction every time again".
Friends repeatedly call on parents to carry the car key and not give it to children.
