A plan will be promoted to subsidize the construction of hotel rooms in the Golan Heights and around the Sea of ​​Galilee

As part of a program to encourage sustainable demographic growth in the Golan and Katzrin Regional Council localities for the years 2022-2025, the Minister of Peripheral, Negev and Galilee Development, Oded Forer, intends to promote legislative amendment that will subsidize the establishment of hotels in the Golan Heights and around the Sea of ​​Galilee.

The plan, which will be presented at the special cabinet meeting to be held today (Sunday) in the Golan Heights, will budget the Ministry of Periphery, Negev and Galilee Development, projects related to the well-being of residents, in order to increase positive immigration and improve the quality of life in Golan Heights and Katzrin.

Among the items that the ministry chose to budget as part of government decisions 1170 and 1739 are the restoration of buildings and infrastructure in the public space in Katzrin in the amount of NIS 4 million. In addition, an additional NIS 3 million will be directed to implementing a program to attract new residents to Katzrin that will deal with expanding public exposure to Katzrin, strengthening its image and positioning it as a locality that offers a high and achievable quality of life.

In order to add services and hours of operation to the emergency medical center operating in Katzrin, which will provide a wide range of services beyond the routine hours of operation of the HMOs, the Ministry of Peripheral, Negev and Galilee Development will allocate 3.5 million"H, to be transferred as a designated budget from the Ministry of Finance.

Plans to strengthen community resilience in Katzrin will be budgeted by the ministry in the amount of 3 million"H. in an equal spread over the years 2022-2024. In addition, NIS 5 million will be transferred through the ministry for the benefit of building an open office complex (HUB joint work complex), in addition to a similar structure established by the Ministry for the Development of the Periphery, the Negev and the Galilee in Abed.

Oded Forer, Minister for the Development of the Negev and Galilee Periphery, said: "Encouraging demographic growth in the Negev and the Galilee is one of the goals I set when I took office. The plan brought to the forefront of the government is revolutionary and will add a significant shot of encouragement to the ability of the Golan authorities to absorb new residents and continue to provide a quality of life to the old residents. However there are other moves that need to be made such as strengthening the tourism industry and increasing the number of guest rooms in the area. I congratulate all the partner ministries and am proud that the Ministry of Development of the Periphery, the Negev and the Galilee is leading the development and promotion of the Golan Heights and Katzrin all year round.".
