In a bill initiated by Hugh"Jewish Power, Ha"Itamar Ben Gvir, who will appear today (Monday) for discussion in the Ministerial Committee for Legislation, proposes that the Prime Minister and the ministers, will enjoy automatic immunity that will be removed, only in the event that the Knesset actively votes in favor of removing their immunity. Another clause, which is the most dramatic of all, actually allows for the cessation of Re’s ongoing trial"From Netanyahu. The draft bill drafted by Ben Gvir states: "A criminal case conducted against a member of the government before the entry into force of this law will be delayed within 30 days, and will only be renewed if the member of the government has been granted immunity from the charge in question.".
In the explanatory memorandum to the bill, Ha explains"According to Ben Gvir, the purpose of the bill is to allow the regular work of the prime minister, the alternate prime minister and the other ministers, without fear of filing an indictment against them. In recent years, indictments have been filed on precedent-setting issues against members of the government, in an attempt to influence the voter decision, and oust incumbent government members through indictments, by officials and legal advisers who put an agenda and worldview into office. The bill was signed by MKs Makhlouf Miki Zohar, Yitzhak Pindros, Moshe Abutbul, Etty Hava Atiyah, Michael Malkieli, Yaakov Margie and Mai Golan.
Ha"About Ben Gvir said: "When you see the farce that occurs in the Netanyahu trial and the testimony of Nir Hefetz, you understand that they sewed a case. The bill I initiated will prevent the prosecution of a prime minister and incumbent ministers. The time has come for elected officials not to fear officials threatening them, and an official – even if he is the attorney general – will not be able to oust an incumbent prime minister.".
