The Carmel tunnels were blocked following a vehicle that caught fire, no casualties were reported

A report was received recently (Sunday) at the Coastal District Hotline of 22"E, regarding heavy smoke coming out of the Carmel tunnels in several directions. Many crews from the Haifa station, under the command of the station commander, Deputy Chief of Staff Suissa Yitzhak, were called in the direction of the incident, which appeared to be particularly complex.

After closing the entire tunnel project, crews reached the tunnels connecting Carmel Beach to the Grand Canyon, entered from the parallel tunnel toward the burning tunnel, took control of the fire and extinguished the burning vehicle. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Despite the final control and extinguishing of the fire, the tunnels are still closed until the assessment of the situation is completed.
