Prime Minister Naftali Bennett held a press conference today (Thursday), in which he issued a joint statement with the Ministers of Health and Education, Nitzan Horowitz and Yifat Shasha Bitton, in which they presented the outline "Checking and learning" To change the format of isolations in the education system.

In his opening remarks, the Prime Minister said: "In recent weeks, almost all parents in Israel have been experiencing distress. The wave of omicrons is reaching its peak these days, the number of infected is large, so the number of isolates, even among children, is large, and it is difficult to maintain a routine life like this – at home, at school, and at work. I am attentive to distress, but we are very careful when it comes to the health of our children. So we waited to see what was happening elsewhere in the world, which are at the height of the wave. We have made sure, and we continue to make sure, that we are on safe ground in terms of Omkiron’s risks to children. In recent days I have had in-depth discussions with the health and education system staff and also with a number of hospital directors for children, with the aim of seeing how the children can be brought back to school, but do so safely and carefully. Tonight, we have a line. The children of Israel return to study continuously. Starting in another week, next Thursday, we will start the operation "Checking and learning"".

Bennett added: "This is how it will be done: All Israeli children, from birth to the age of 18, will be tested twice a week, in self-tests at home, once on Sunday morning before leaving for school, and once on Wednesday morning. The child is tested, found negative and goes to school as usual. If he is verified he stays at home, until recovery. Thus, twice a week, all Israeli children will be examined and studies will take place as usual. In the meantime, we have already taken care of delivering 3 free tests per student in Israel, it is already in your hands, and in the coming days we will make sure to deliver tens of millions more free test kits to parents. I want to say here – the country is going towards the parents and children, who are so in need of a framework and a routine. We take responsibility: we took care of test kits, we distributed and distributed more, but – this move also requires your personal responsibility, the parents, to be careful and perform the tests properly. If the child is sick, not feeling well, has symptoms, or the test came out positive – just do not send the children to school or kindergarten."

Finally, Bennett said: "Citizens of Israel, we will overcome the wave of omicrons with the help of the name with minimal harm to the economy and human life. This is what we marked at the beginning – to keep the economy open. True, fighting the plague is complicated. This is the nature of the omicron. But thanks to the right and quick decisions at the beginning of the path that the government made, we were able to prepare in the best way in the world, to design a strategy after seeing what is happening abroad"To, purchase medicines, vaccinate some 600,000 adults with a fourth vaccine, and maintain the nursing homes and the most vulnerable in society. I would like to express my appreciation to the Israeli public, and especially to you parents, for the patience and responsibility you are showing these days. This wave is difficult for everyone, there is verified in almost every home, but the truth must be told – the omicron is less violent, and this wave will end relatively quickly compared to previous waves. I once again thank my colleagues in the government, Health Minister Nitzan Horowitz, Education Minister Yifat Shasha-Bitton, and the wonderful staff of the Ministry of Health. It was important for us all to come here, as one man. The outline is a common outline – in the opinion of everyone. We act and will continue to act responsibly and considerately. The tests of all Israeli children, twice a week, will also help us reduce morbidity and bring the wave to an end. There is light at the end of the tunnel, while less than a week of schooling returns to normal. We are in the last line, a little more patience and we will go through it together".
