Defense Minister Bnei Gantz said at the meeting: "I would like to thank you, all the veterans of the defense establishment, for investing your time in this issue and proving that your work for the country has not ended in your past. I remember a conversation I had with Healy Trooper three years ago during the first campaign, and he asked me as a friend if there was a concern about the submarine issue or if it was a matter of politics and I replied that it was the least politics of all and the biggest concern of all. We need to keep security out of the political field certainly on strategic issues of this kind."

He also said: "My goal is to maintain national security and for me, the work of such a committee will achieve two things – it will bring the truth and the findings and it will be clear as a result that we are not playing with security and it will prove that we are a democratic state. I would like to emphasize that I am not acting out of personal motives but as Minister of Defense out of a critical national need. I hope that the decision will be passed in the government tomorrow and I thank the Minister of Justice who worked with me on this matter, as well as the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister who are in charge of the agenda. I estimate that the decision will pass by an absolute majority tomorrow."

The chairman of the Movement for the Quality of Government, Adv. Dr. Eliad Shraga: Just before the establishment of the committee, this is a happy moment for everyone who cares about the security of the State of Israel. We hope that there will be a unanimous vote in favor of the establishment of the committee, this is not a political committee and there is no political statement here. I thank the broad and senior security forum of the Movement for Quality of Government for its great commitment to the cause and its support in the last two years. I thank the Minister of Defense wholeheartedly for his commitment to the establishment of the committee and wish him a speedy recovery".
