A 21-year-old from Jerusalem is accused of throwing a Molotov cocktail at a hookah store in the city

The Jerusalem District Attorney’s Office (Criminal) today filed an indictment in the city district court against Muhammad Awad Gebri (21), a resident of Jerusalem, for setting fire to a store using a Molotov cocktail.

According to the indictment, filed through attorney Manel Abu Amer, following a murder incident that occurred last November near the Orient Hotel in Jerusalem, the defendant arrived with others at the complainant’s hookah store. This is after the complainant’s family members were suspected in the murder incident.

At one point the store was broken into using an ax, the defendant lit a Molotov cocktail and threw it into the store. Then the fire started spreading in the store, causing an explosion, the rioters were pushed back and the fire gripped the accused. As a result of the defendant’s actions, the store was damaged and he needed medical attention.

The indictment attributes to the defendant committing offenses of rioting, arson and attempting to destroy property with explosives. The prosecution is asking the court to order the detention of the accused until the end of the legal proceedings against him.
