The Commander of the Border Guard, Superintendent Amir Cohen, arrived at the area of the attack that happened earlier today (Friday) in Hawara, spoke with the fighters and the commander of the company that neutralized the terrorist and praised their actions.
The company commander, ref"K. H. who neutralized the terrorist said: "It took us a second to understand that it was an attack. I recognized the Israeli vehicle and the terrorist who immediately started fighting with me. As soon as he grabbed my M-16 I realized that if I didn’t neutralize him and he managed to steal my weapon, there would be a significant attack and many innocent people would be hurt, I pulled out the gun and neutralized the terrorist."
The Commander of the Border Guard, Superintendent Amir Cohen praised the fighters and said: "You acted in a professional and determined manner, starting with the quick identification and understanding that it was an attack alongside the pursuit of contact and the quick and professional neutralization of the terrorist. The determined struggle you waged with the terrorist with your bare hands, the instinctive pull of the gun and the professionalism with which you neutralized the terrorist, certainly prevented a significant attack on the busy road where Israeli citizens were traveling before the Sabbath. Cheers, this is how I expect the Border Guard soldiers to act in this type of event."
