"A platform for getting to know the other": The first accessible playground of its kind will be built in Hazor HaGalilit

The Galilee Hazor Council, together with the Ministry for the Development of the Negev and Galilee Periphery, completed the design of an accessible playground, the first of its kind in the Galilee settlement and the region. This is a new playground, the cost of which is estimated at NIS 500,000. It will be built with the financing of the Ministry for the Development of the Periphery, the Negev and the Galilee and will be located near the Hillel Garden.

The accessible kindergarten was designed in consultation with parents of children with various disabilities as part of the council’s involvement and the residents’ participation in the various decisions, with the aim of providing a comprehensive and extensive response to their needs. With the opening of the kindergarten, for the first time, wheelchair users and those with disabilities will be able to use designated facilities, alongside their family members.

The designated facilities are also adapted for use by adults – parents or the elderly, who use wheelchairs, who now for the first time will also be able to enjoy the experience of the amusement facilities alongside their family members.

This is about the continuation of the activity of the Galilee Hazor Council for those with disabilities, along with the accessibility of public institutions, buildings and gardens in the settlement. Just last week, a modern accessible elevator was inaugurated at Ort Ebert High School at midnight, which will from now on be used, among other things, by those with disabilities and the disabled who come to the school.

The head of the Hazor HaGalilit Council, Shimon Suisa, said: "For me it is a great excitement. The new accessible playground that we completed planning in the last few days is designed to create a platform for getting to know the other – a place where all children can play together, as equals. Our moral duty as public figures is towards all populations with special needs. We will continue to make the buildings, institutions and gardens in Hazor accessible in the future as well".
