The investigators of the central unit of the Jerusalem district completed in the last few days the investigation of some of those involved in violent incidents that included throwing stones, Molotov cocktails and"pipe loads" Towards the police forces and the Border Guard who were operating in Shuafat MP, as part of the investigation of the terrorist attack that happened at the crossing on Shabbat 8.10.22, during which an IDF female soldier was murdered"To Noa Lazar Z"and a civilian security guard was seriously wounded by the terrorist Udai Tamimi.
Against two of those involved, minors about 17 years old and residents of the place, a prosecutor’s statement was submitted at the beginning of the week on behalf of the prosecutor’s office and their detention was extended until 7.12.22 in favor of the filing of the indictment.
On 25.10 during the night hours, as part of the investigation of the aforementioned attack, police forces and the Border Guard entered MP Shuafat with the aim of conducting further searches and investigative operations. During the activity of the forces, stones and Molotov cocktails were thrown at them and several were thrown "pipe loads" which exploded near the police forces and caused the injury of several policemen, with one of them needing medical treatment in the hospital.
Following this riot, the forces that acted with the various means responded and at the same time the central unit of the Jerusalem district began investigating the incident with the aim of finding those responsible for it. As part of this investigation, arrests were made during the last few weeks and 6 suspects who were residents of the place were arrested.
The arrested suspects were transferred to the Central Unit for questioning and their detention was extended in the BIM"Q. In order to complete their investigation while forming a sufficient evidentiary foundation against them, and already in the coming days the attorney’s office is expected to submit indictments on its behalf in court.
The police said: "The Israel Police will continue to act resolutely against incidents of violence in general and those directed at the police officers, in particular, while exhausting capabilities and means to locate those involved in these acts, arresting them and exhausting the investigation in their case in order to bring them to justice."
