The Director General of the Ministry of Health, Moshe Bar Siman Tov, visited Soroka Hospital today (Tuesday) and met with the hospital’s director, Dr. Shlomi Kodish, and the hospital’s management. The CEO toured the hospital’s wards. During a visit to the children’s department, he met with Dr. Yariv Fruchtman, a senior pediatrician who experienced a violent incident a few days ago. Dr. Fruchtman told about the medical teams dealing with violence in the hospital.

During the visit, Bar Siman Tov also came to the policing point that was placed at the hospital about a month ago as part of the government’s decision following the Mandelovich Committee of the Ministry of Health and heard about the activity of the Israel Police in dealing with violence at the hospital, together with the staff of the hospital’s security department. The Director General of the Ministry of Health today also visited a milk drop in Barhat, a milk drop in Ramot, and the Be’er Sheva mental health center.

Moshe Bar Siman Tov, CEO of the Ministry of Health: “I chose to tour the south out of the system’s commitment to improving and strengthening the health system in the periphery.” The meeting with Dr. Fruchtman was particularly important in order to hear his and the other medical teams’ dealings with the unacceptable phenomenon of violence. We work hard to reduce as much as possible, together with the various enforcement agencies, the violence against the teams. We are committed as a ministry to continue to work for the benefit of hospitals and medicine in the community as well as to continue to strengthen the mental health system.’
