Elections in Turkey: Erdogan and his opponent will compete in a second round

After counting almost all the votes in the elections in Turkey, it appears this morning (Monday) that Turkey is expected to go to a second round of elections.

A third candidate, Sinan Ogan received 5.2% of the votes. However, according to the Turkish election system, if no candidate receives more than 50% of the votes, the two candidates with the most votes run again in a second round.

Turkish President Erdogan told his supporters: "The results show that I lead by 2.6 million votes, but I will respect the people’s decision if there is a second round".

The second round of the elections will take place on May 28.
