Residents of the neighborhood detained the suspect in the theft of a ‘Ihud Hatzla’ scooter – until the police arrived

Early in the morning (Thursday) a report was received at the police center about suspects messing with motorcycles belonging to the “Ihud Hatzla” organization in the Ramat Shlomo neighborhood of Jerusalem and the officers of the Lev HaBira station were called to the scene.

The patrol officers who arrived at the scene noticed citizens living in the neighborhood delaying the suspect until they arrived and he was arrested. Investigation of the case revealed that the suspect, a resident of MP Shuafat in his 30s, arrived in the neighborhood together with another suspect and were seen messing with an emergency and rescue scooter that was parked there.

When a number of citizens approached the suspects, the suspect who was arrested started driving towards them and was caught and detained by them until the police arrived, while his friend fled the scene on foot after throwing stones at the residents of the neighborhood in order to destroy him.

The suspect who was arrested was taken for questioning at Lev Ha-Bira Station of the Jerusalem District and today he was brought before the Criminal Court, which acceded to the request of the police and extended his detention by five days, until 5/29/23, in order to complete the investigation in his case.
