First technology of its kind for waste treatment will arrive in Israel

Advanced technology, the first of its kind in Israel, will be used to treat the sludge of the Wastewater Treatment Institute in Haifa. A memorandum of understanding for the purchase of the technology was signed in Spain.

The advanced technology produced by an Italian/Spanish company (Sorain Cecchini Tecno) which has established about sixty similar facilities around the world, is a cutting edge in the treatment of organic waste.

The Chairman of the Association of Haifa Cities for Sewage, Eli Cohen, signed in Madrid, Spain, a memorandum of understanding for the purchase of the advanced technology, as stated the first of its kind in Israel, to treat the sewage treatment institute’s sludge. At the signing ceremony, the director general of the union Brigadier General Itzik Cohen, the deputy director of the union for environmental quality and processes Yoram Linder and the chairman of the tenders committee and the vice chairman of the union Lavi Naftali also participated.

The Association of Haifa Sewerage Cities stated that the association is about to establish a biological treatment facility using the composting method to stabilize the sludge created in the purification institute and for this purpose, it will test different technologies around the world. The chairman of the union Eli Cohen said that at the end of the process “it was decided on a dynamic technology that combines forced ventilation and continuous inversion in a closed structure that includes advanced treatment of odors”.
