The Knesset’s Health Committee, chaired by MK Uriel Bosso, today (Tuesday) approved for second and third reading changes to the law proposed by Knesset member Eti Atiya, according to which additional populations will be entitled to receive financial reimbursement in the event of evacuation by ambulance or intensive care vehicle, even if these are carried out by private ambulances.
According to the bill, a full refund of the travel fees according to Magen David Adom rates (in return for admission) will also be received for those who were taken to a hospital and died before hospitalization, and a refund of 50% of the expenses according to Magen David Adom rates for those who have turned 80 and are entitled to income assurance and nursing benefits.
The bill has already been approved by the committee for second and third reading, but following a request for reconsideration submitted by the chairman of the committee, MK Uriel Bosso, the members of the committee decided that the financial refunds will also apply not only to evacuations by Magen David Adom, but also to evacuations by private ambulances, but they will be given according to evacuation rates by ambulance and intensive care vehicle of Magen David Adom.
The chairman of the committee, MK Uriel Bosso, said that this is a social bill of the first order, and that he expects the Knesset plenary to finally approve the law this coming Sunday. At the end of the vote, MK Eti Atiya congratulated the initiator of the bill: “That we lived and lived and reached this time”.
