The chairman of the Labor Party, MK Merav Michaeli, a short time ago (Tuesday) appealed in a post she wrote on social media to the President of the State, Yitzhak Herzog, not to sign the law to abolish the reason for reasonableness, before “its fate is decided in the Supreme Court.”
“I call on the friends of President Herzog – do not sign the law before its fate is decided in the Supreme Court.” Michaeli opened her words and said: “For a new law to enter our law book, the president of the country has to sign it. Yesterday the coalition passed by its narrow majority, contrary to the will of the majority of the people, a law that seriously harms our democracy. The Labor Party is petitioning the High Court against him, as are many, many others.”
She also said: “The president of our country, Buji Herzog, invested tremendous efforts in reaching an agreement between the parties. He threw all his weight, opened his residence and recruited many partners to this Zion. But the coalition lied and cheated. Yesterday, it unilaterally enacted the cancellation of the reason for reasonableness.”
In conclusion, she said: “I call on the friends of President Herzog – do not sign the law before its fate is decided in the Supreme Court. Do not give your hand to this destructive and undemocratic unilateral move. Give the court a real chance to discuss the law. Give the State of Israel a chance. We all bear and keep our eyes on you – do not sign the law canceling the grounds of reasonableness that was passed unilaterally, before the petitions against it are decided.”
