The Ashdod police opened an investigation a few weeks ago following a complaint received about suspected crimes of abuse of toddlers between the ages of one and a half to three years in a daycare center in the city of Ashdod.
The investigators began the task of gathering evidence, including hundreds of hours of documentation from the daycare’s security cameras, as well as collecting additional evidence from the kindergarten staff, which strengthened the suspicion of crimes of violence and abuse against the toddlers, by the main suspect, a 62-year-old resident of the city.
Today (Tuesday) the suspect was questioned on suspicion of the offenses of abuse of a helpless minor, assault of a minor by a responsible person and neglect, and tomorrow she will be brought before the Ashkelon Magistrate’s Court with a request to extend her detention.
At the same time, the police investigators in Ashdod summoned the parents of the toddlers identified as those who were allegedly harmed by the suspect’s actions in the coming days, in order to back up their complaint.
