Former Prime Minister Naftali Bennett responded on his Twitter account this evening (Thursday) to the words of the Jordanian Foreign Minister, who said that Jordan will freeze the water-for-electricity agreement with Israel.
Bennett wrote: “We don’t want to, we don’t need to.
The government led by me promoted this agreement and I can state in the clearest way:
Israel has enough energy sources for electricity; Jordan does not have enough water for its people.
That’s why we, as good neighbors, initiated desalination of sea water; Flowing sweetened water into the Jordan River, to allow Jordan to pump more water and irrigate its inhabitants.
We did this to help our neighbors who are thirsty for water.
If the leaders of Jordan want the people of Jordan to be thirsty, that’s their right.”
Don’t want, don’t need.
