At the beginning of the month, the security forces arrested a 23-year-old Israeli suspect who currently lives in the YOS, who serves as a significant activist of Bir-Zit University, and who is suspected of representing students on behalf of the terrorist organization Hamas. The suspect was arrested on suspicion of publishing content inciting terrorism and supporting terrorist acts.
The suspect was taken for questioning at the central unit of the Jerusalem district. The police investigation revealed that the suspect is a significant activist in the organization of violent disturbances and support processions for the terrorist organization Hamas.
As part of the investigation at the Jerusalem District Attorney’s Office, various photographs were found in which the suspect appears with Hamas flags and appears in support parades for Hamas in Israel. Also, the police investigators established an evidentiary infrastructure that the suspect was a significant axis in the influence and organization of disturbances and terrorist support processions.
It also became clear in the investigation at the central unit of the Jerusalem district that the suspect holds a position in the “Kotala al-Islamiya” – student cells of Hamas in institutions of higher education in the territories of the Palestinian Authority and in the Gaza Strip, which is actually the student arm of the terrorist organization Hamas. In this framework, the suspect served as a coordinator between the terrorist organization and the students, and invited others to support marches for Hamas following the war.
At the end of the investigation at the central unit in the Jerusalem district, today a prosecutor’s statement was submitted against the suspect and his detention was extended until next Sunday (11/26) at the military court. In the coming days, the military prosecutor’s office is expected to file an indictment against him.
The Israel Police emphasized that it will continue to act resolutely to bring to justice terrorist activists, wherever they may be, and to act against any Israeli resident who incites terrorism or expresses support for terrorism, at any time and in any place.
