No stipulation on the release of the abductees – the emerging French proposal

France is formulating a proposal for a resolution that will soon be submitted to the Security Council for approval. Her proposal includes a call for an immediate ceasefire during the month of Ramadan and a reminder that many countries are considering recognizing a Palestinian state. In addition, the proposal declares that the Gaza Strip is part of the territories occupied in 1967. The proposal states that settlement in the Palestinian territories and East Jerusalem is illegal and expresses concern about the violence of “extremist settlers”.

In addition, there is a demand for the immediate release of the abductees, again, unconditionally. In Israel, they are disturbed by the distraction of the French proposal and fear that the US will not veto it this time either.
