Demonstrators breached the security cordon at the Prime Minister's residence

A serious incident took place this evening near the Prime Minister's residence in Jerusalem after dozens of protesters managed to break through the security cordons around Prime Minister Netanyahu's residence and reached the nearby entrance to the Prime Minister's residence.

Many police forces worked to keep away the protesters who were scattered among the streets near the Prime Minister's residence on Gaza Street in Jerusalem while they were confronting the police and security forces on the spot and chanting “We are all kidnapped”.

The police said: During the day and evening, as well as the last two days, the police in Jerusalem worked to secure the many protestors near the Knesset, and to maintain public peace and public order. This activity is being carried out in the Jerusalem District by the police these days, in parallel with the Ramadan month events and the other security and other tasks and challenges facing the police these days.

Tonight, thousands of protestors demonstrated in the protest complex in the Knesset area. Later, most of them marched on an orderly route coordinated with the police in advance towards Gaza Street at the distance allowed to demonstrate in front of the private homes of elected officials in accordance with the ruling of the Supreme Court, this under police security and activity to maintain order and direct traffic. The police are also working at this time to allow the protesters the freedom of expression and protest according to the law.

Along with this, even tonight some of the minds decided to try to riot and try to get near the Prime Minister's house, contrary to the court's decision. The police stopped them and pushed back those who disobeyed the policemen's instructions to the distance allowed for a demonstration on the spot. It should be emphasized that at no point was there any danger to the Prime Minister's house itself, and no one physically came to it.

Also, some rioters moved police fences in order to block additional roads and break the order, and some of them threw torches in the direction of the police cavalry – a dangerous, illegal and irresponsible act. So far, one person broke through a police checkpoint and led the rioters on the spot. The police continue to operate in the area to maintain order and disperse disorderly persons.

The Israel Police will continue to allow the freedom of protest according to the law, but will act against any attempt to violate public order, as well as act contrary to the provisions of the law and the instructions of the police officers in the field. We call on the protesters to demonstrate according to the law and obey the police officers' instructions.
