Two animals infected with rabies were discovered in the Upper Galilee

Today (Thursday, 11.4.24) reports were received about a dog infected with rabies in the Metula area, in the Upper Galilee, and a badger infected with rabies in Shaar settlement, in the Upper Galilee. One person was exposed to the infected tooth and was referred for preventive treatment against rabies.

The Ministry of Health asks anyone who was in contact or whose animals came into contact in the area of ​​the incident with the infected animals or a stray animal, between the dates 27.3.24 and 10.4.24 inclusive, to contact the Health Office in Safed urgently, phone 04-6994257, 04-6994200, or to the health office closest to his place of residence, in order to consider providing preventive treatment. After working hours and during the weekend, you should go to the emergency room at a hospital.

The Ministry of Health requests:
* Parents of children – find out with their children if they have been in contact with suspicious animals and contact the health bureau urgently.
* Pet owners – contact the authorized veterinarian, in order to verify their vaccination status.

The Ministry of Health reminds those who have been bitten or scratched by an animal to immediately wash the area with running water and soap, disinfect with disinfectants and go to the health office to check if it is necessary to receive preventive treatment against rabies.
