About a week ago, on the night of May 16, a resident of Beit Shemesh reported that he had received a message on a dedicated application that his car had been stolen from the parking lot below his house, and police officers from the Beit Shemesh station in the Jerusalem district were called to the scene. At the same time, the police officer on duty at the time spoke by phone with the owner of the vehicle who provided additional details, including the directions of travel of his stolen vehicle. During searches in the direction of travel of the stolen vehicle with the assistance of the “Ituran” headquarters, the policemen followed the vehicle towards the city of Modi'in.

At the same time, a police blockade was carried out on Hashmonaim Boulevard in the city to slow down the traffic coming in their direction. During the blockade, the suspect who was driving the stolen vehicle was also forced to slow down. Then the Beit Shemesh police station stopped and arrested the driver, with the assistance of the Modi'in police station.

The suspect, an 18-year-old Palestinian resident of Yosh, was arrested and taken for questioning at the Beit Shemesh station, and the vehicle was returned to its owner after an examination. The defendant's detention was extended during the past week in order to complete his investigation. against the accused, for the crimes of entering Israel illegally, breaking into a car and stealing a car and driving a car without a driver's license and without insurance.

Inspector Shai Avitzedek, the operations officer at the Beit Shemesh station who led the activity of arresting the accused and thwarting the theft of the city resident's car, said: “During the police's activity in the city during the shift, a report was received from a citizen that his car had been stolen. We immediately began operational operations to locate and arrest the person involved in the act, while we received information about the direction of travel of the accused in the vehicle. With the help of an intelligence station of the Central District, traffic was slowed down in their area and in the process, we arrested the accused who was driving a stolen vehicle. Upon completion of his investigation at the Beit Shemesh station, the prosecution unit submitted the indictment against him. We will continue to act all the time to protect the safety and property of the citizens against those criminals who are involved in criminal acts of this kind.”
