The American National Security Advisor, Jake Sullivan, clarified that there are significant gaps between Hamas's demands for the ceasefire arrangement and the version approved by the Security Council. “Some of the changes that Hamas demands are fundamentally different from the text approved by the Security Council,” said Sullivan.

However, Sullivan emphasized that the United States will work jointly with Qatar and Egypt in an effort to bridge the gaps and reach an agreement between the parties. “The time for bargaining is over, it's time for a ceasefire to begin and the abductees to return home,” Sullivan said.
