On May 24, a complaint was filed with the police following a break-in to a business in Jerusalem and causing a large amount of damage. As soon as the complaint was received, the Lev Ha-Bira station in the Jerusalem district opened an investigation with the aim of identifying and locating the suspect who committed the act, which was recorded on the security cameras installed at the location. As part of the investigation and a variety of investigative actions carried out last Thursday, the accused, a 43-year-old resident of Jerusalem, was arrested for breaking into and destroying the property in the store.

From the investigation of the case and according to the facts of the indictment filed against him today (Thursday), it emerged that on 5/24 in the morning the accused broke into the business. After entering it, the accused vandalized dozens of wigs, spraying them with paint and cutting off a large number of wigs, and after carrying out his plan fled the scene. According to the owner of the business, he caused a lot of financial damage in the place of over half a million NIS.

The accused, who was arrested by the detectives, was transferred for questioning at Lev HaBira station in Jerusalem. His detention was extended in court in order to complete the necessary actions in his case. In the last few days, his investigation ended and today, the police prosecution unit in the Jerusalem district filed an indictment against him, along with a request from the High Court to order his arrest until the end of the legal proceedings.

Sen. Lior Ben Shalom, the investigation and intelligence officer at the Lev HaBira station, commented on the case and noted: “This defendant apparently acted for ideological motives in which he believes – which prohibits the use of wigs among ultra-Orthodox women, and committed criminal acts by breaking into a business and causing significant damage there. Our investigative efforts, which began immediately upon receiving the complaint about the case, bore fruit after we carried out various investigative actions with the aim of locating him and arresting them. The detectives of the Lev Ha-Bira station arrested the suspect, and the station's investigators were able to formulate an evidentiary infrastructure against him for the commission of the acts – which led to the indictment filed against him.
