A 21-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of a hit-and-run accident in Be'er Sheva

The policemen of the Beer Sheva station and the traffic inspectors of the Negev region in the southern district this evening (Saturday) began an investigation into a suspected “hit and run” car accident in the city of Beer Sheva, which caused the death of a pedestrian, a resident of the city, in his 80s, and the injury of another pedestrian who was referred for medical treatment at the Soroka hospital, according to medical officials.

Upon receiving the report, the traffic inspectors and station policemen arrived at the scene and began to collect findings and evidence, as part of the investigation into the circumstances of the accident, and in the assessment of the situation carried out on the ground by the commander of the station, Air Force One Shlomi Derai, instructed to carry out all the necessary actions in order to immediately locate the offending driver who fled the scene.

As part of the investigation, the investigators and detectives, in a short period of time of about an hour and a half, were able to locate the route of travel of the offending vehicle and the suspect, 21 years old, a resident of Pazorat on Route 25 near Nabatim, and arrest him.

In a special situation assessment held by the commander of the Negev region – National Police Efi Shiman decided to entrust the investigation to the central unit of the Negev region and the region's traffic inspectors.
