Affirmative action law for reservists in institutions of higher education

Today, (Wednesday), a preliminary reading was passed: a bill on affirmative action for reservists in institutions of higher education by MK Kati Shetrit of the Likud. The current bill will oblige the institutions of higher education to give affirmative preference in the conditions of registration and admission to an academic institution, among all the candidates serving in the reserve service. Any preference, adjustment or relief given to candidates belonging to unique populations will also apply to candidates serving in reserve service.

Member of Knesset Kati Shetrit from the Likud party: “Every reservist who sacrifices himself in defense of the homeland knows that the state sees him as a significant asset.” Since the beginning of the war, I have received many inquiries from students and reservists who have abandoned their studies, their families and their lives behind, who fear for their professional future.'

“Just as there is an affirmative preference for different populations in Israeli society, the same goes to the reserve servants who do not deserve them for their nobility of soul and tremendous sacrifice. A big thank you to Defense Minister Yoav Galant and Education Minister Yoash Kish for their tremendous support,” she added.
