More than 33% of businesses currently allow work from home to some extent

From the business trend assessment survey conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics and published today (Wednesday), it appears that more than 33% of businesses currently allow work from home in a structured and regulated manner to some extent, this compared to approximately 27% in 2023.

Except for high-tech industries where there has been a reduction in the scope of work from home, in other industries there has been an increase in the scope of work from home. About 15% of the businesses in the industrial branches without elite industry have the option of working from home to some extent. The possibility of working from home is more common in large businesses where more than 250 are employed; About 39% of these businesses allow work from home to some extent, and about 21% of them allow a weekly work day from home.

About 12% of businesses in the trade sector have the option of working from home (similar to 2023). In the large businesses where more than 100 are employed, the possibility of working from home is more common – 20% of the businesses. About 35% of businesses in non-high-tech service industries have the possibility of working from home compared to about 25% in 2023, an increase of 10 percentage points.

One company out of four companies in the high-tech service industries (23%) allows work from home for four or more days a week. In the business services industry, which includes legal and accounting services, about 17% of the companies allow work from home on a large scale, similar to high-tech.

However, in high-tech services, an extensive scope of four days of working from home is more common in small companies, while in the business service sectors, this possibility exists in a balanced way in both large and small businesses. About 42% of the businesses in elite industries have the option of working from home to some extent compared to about 30% in 2023, an increase of 12 percentage points. In 2024, about 32% of these businesses allow working from home one day.
