Netanyahu asked for a one-month extension for the answer on the recruitment: “We have made considerable progress”

Prime Minister Netanyahu sent his response this evening (Thursday) to the Supreme Court. “The issue of equality in the burden is an extremely important issue for Israeli society and its future. The government's intention to resolve this complex issue, which has not been resolved for decades, is expressed in the fact that the government committed in June of last year to settle the issue within nine months. But the time we actually had at our disposal was only three months. Netanyahu began his response.

“The criminal attack on Israel on October 7 obliged us to mobilize the resources of time and attention mainly for the conduct of the war in the six months that have passed since then. Naturally, I and the ministers concerned are required to invest the absolute majority of our time in the conduct of the war, the political campaign and everything that goes along with it. Nevertheless, we made a huge effort, even during the war, to bring about a solution to this important issue.'' he added.

“The principle that guides us is to try to reach an agreement that will be based on an agreement that will guarantee its success, this after it has already been proven in the past that recruitment without an agreed arrangement actually achieved the opposite result. “In recent weeks, we have made an intensive effort to formulate the necessary arrangement, and considerable progress has indeed been achieved, although the work is not yet complete,” Netanyahu noted.

“Another short period of time is needed to finalize the arrangement, to complete the work of the professional headquarters, to determine the routes and frameworks that will allow the conscripts to maintain their lifestyle during their service, and to ensure that those whose 'Torah is their art' will be able to study Torah. ” added the prime minister.

“We are at a decisive moment in the war, with great achievements and extraordinary challenges. It is in our power to achieve both the goals of the war and to resolve the recruitment issue. Under these circumstances, I ask the honorable court not to make a decision on the question of recruitment and the questions related to it for 30 days, in order to allow us to finalize the agreements, complete the work of the professional headquarters, and regulate the required routes and frameworks.” He finished.
