This is the reason for the delay in closing the Al Jazeera channel in Israel

In recent weeks, the General Security Service (Shiabet) and the Mossad submitted to the government updated and confidential opinions supporting the termination of Al Jazeera's broadcasts from Israel, claiming harm to state security. This, against the background Al Jazeera Law which was recently approved by the Knesset, which makes it possible to prevent its broadcasts from within Israel.

However, contrary to expectations, the IDF and the military censorship refrain from submitting their own opinions at the appointed time, despite the fact that the deadline for their submission passed more than a week ago. The continuous delay in submitting the positions of the military security officials legally prevents the possibility of bringing the issue up for discussion in the cabinet and making a final decision on the matter .

Last week, it was announced that a security opinion allows the cabinet to close the Al Jazeera channel in Israel within days, but it seems that the continuation of the process of submitting the opinion is delaying the final decision.

It is not clear whether this is a deliberate delay, as a continuation of the tensions and interpretations that have accompanied the issue in recent months, or whether it is a normal burden on the military authorities. Meanwhile, the Al Jazeera channel continues to operate as usual and its future is currently unclear.
