Today (Wednesday), the President of Iran, Ebrahim Raisi, held a joint press conference with his Sri Lankan counterpart, during which he referred to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and once again took aim at Israel. “The Zionist regime must be expelled from the occupied territories,” he said.
The Iranian president said that “Tehran and Colombo agree on an immediate cease-fire of the bombings in the Gaza Strip by the Zionist regime and the provision of immediate aid to the Palestinians.”
According to him, “The solution to the Palestinian issue is “one voice for every Palestinian”, meaning that the Palestinian people, including Muslims and Christians, will be able to decide on the government of their choice. This is both a fair and democratic solution.”
The Iranian president attacked Israel and said that “the usurper (Israel) must be expelled from the land that was usurped and punished.” He described the Palestinian issue as a “problem of the people of the entire world” and accused the United States and Western countries of supporting “crimes” against the Palestinians.
“The question of the people of the world is why is this amount of infanticide and genocide taking place? Why are officials and international organizations not doing their duty.” Raisi said and added, “What is the logic of America and the Western countries for supporting for several months now all these crimes? It is more unfortunate why the United Nations, the Security Council and human rights organizations have become ineffective.”
On the other hand, the President of Sri Lanka expressed his gratitude to Iran, but his statement on the subject was more cautious. He did not directly refer to the conflict but only noted that “there is no obstacle to the development of political, economic, commercial and cultural relations between Iran and Sri Lanka.”
The president of Iran said these words a day after he sent a threatening message to Israel and said that “if the Zionists make a mistake and attack the territory of Islamic Iran, the situation will be completely different for them, and it is not clear if there will be anything left of the Zionist regime.”
