Ilan Shouri, married and father of 2 children and grandfather of 6 grandchildren, is a journalist and historian of Tel Aviv. Black, born in the city who lived his whole life in Tel Aviv. He has been researching the history of Tel Aviv for almost a jubilee of years, as a “life work”, and is currently about to submit a doctoral thesis on the history of Tel Aviv during the mandate period at the University of Haifa and operates a large website on the history of the city called “My Tel Aviv”. This is Ilan Shouri's fourth book about the city of Tel Aviv and its history. He was born in Tel Aviv, and his whole life was in the city. “I love Tel Aviv like crazy,” he testifies to himself. “This book is part of my long journey to research the history of Tel Aviv that began 45 years ago as a reporter for the newspaper Haaretz in Tel Aviv, and researching the history of the city is my life's work.” The book “My Tel Aviv” is 435 pages long and includes 32 chapters from the history of Tel Aviv in four divisions: the formation of a city – the beginning of the institutions and services; Dizengoff – not just the name of a street; Tel Aviv's urban culture; And city stories – struggles and wars at the beginning of the road.
Shouri concludes: “I worked on the book for about ten years, it includes articles from the history of Tel Aviv, some of which were published in various journals and were reworked for the purpose of the book, along with new articles that were specially written.”
In his new book, “My Tel Aviv”, Shohori brings the story of the city's history with an academic, researcher and journalist's eye, which is a sort of partial summary of forty-five years of research, and brings the Tel Aviv story in a wide variety of new articles and those published in recent years in academic and popular journals. All of these are echoed by Schori's first childhood memories, which he also shares in his book, such as the trip with his parents in a pram to the first Dizengoff Square and the dozens of photographs that have been taken since then from this place. From the first Kindergarten, he remembers the big celebration he participated in on the fiftieth anniversary of Tel Aviv. Ilan Shouri is the winner of the media award (1986), as part of the local government awards of the Ministry of the Interior. He won the prestigious Naftali Award on behalf of the Tel Aviv City Council in 1993, and received the Order of Merit international award for outstanding journalism (2005) on behalf of the international tourism organization Skal International.

In a short ceremony in the office of Tel Aviv Mayor Ron Huldai, yesterday (Friday) he was officially awarded the first copy of the new book on the history of Tel Aviv.
In a meeting with the mayor of Tel Aviv, Ron Huldai was interested in the researches conducted by Ilan Shohori on the city of Tel Aviv and said that he had previously read quite a few of the publications on the subject written by Shohori. The ceremony at Huldai's office was also attended by Nega Shohori, Ilan Shohori's wife and Doron Crispin, publisher of “Media 10” publishing house, under which the new book was published.
