A network of criminals who falsified wills of the elderly was exposed

The National Fraud Investigations Unit (NAU) in Lahab 433 this morning (Sunday) arrested 10 suspects, including two lawyers and a resident of Gaza, who formed a criminal network that systematically engaged in forging the wills of Arariim from the Gush Dan area who passed away, in order to fraudulently take control of their money and their property.

The unit began an undercover investigation a few months ago, following a request from the custodian general at the Ministry of Justice, whose representatives passed on information to Yaha regarding the phenomenon of falsifying wills of deceased Ariri elderly people.

The investigation revealed that the suspects systematically tracked down Ariri elderly people, who had passed away not long before, falsified their wills, presented as if they were destined to be the legal heirs of the elderly, and with the help of lawyers, worked with the state authorities in order to take control of the funds and property of the dead The scope of the offenses is estimated so far at tens of millions of NIS.

The investigation, led by Yaha, was conducted in cooperation with the Analytics Section of the Intelligence Division, MZP Laboratories, the Fraud Unit in the Tel Aviv District, the General Custodian and In charge of Inheritance Matters in the Tel Aviv District, the Land Registry Office, in charge of providing business services at the Ministry of Justice, the ” Diamond” at the Tax Authority, the Authority for the Prohibition of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, the Civil Enforcement Unit at the State Attorney's Office and National Insurance. Also, the investigation was accompanied by the Taxation and Economy Prosecutor's Office.

This morning, with the transition to an open investigation, 10 suspects were arrested. After conducting searches at several scenes, the suspects are now being brought to the unit's offices for questioning, at the end of which and in accordance with its findings, they will be brought to a hearing on the extension of their detention at the Rishon Lezion Magistrate's Court.
