In an interview with Al Jazeera this morning (Sunday), a senior Hamas official referred to the deal taking shape for the release of the abductees that would include a ceasefire in Gaza and said that “Israel is looking to reach an agreement for the release of its prisoners without tying it to the issue of ending the war.”
He clarified that “the Hamas organization will in no way agree to an agreement that does not explicitly include the end of the war in Gaza. Our information confirms that Netanyahu is personally preventing the achievement of the agreement for personal reasons.”
In addition, Egyptian sources told the “Al-Arabi Al-Jadid” website that the negotiations between Hamas and mediators ended on Saturday night without results and will resume today.
