The fighters in Kerem Shalom guarded tanks prepared for the entrance to Rafah

In the afternoon (Sunday), 10 injured people from the shelling incident in Kerem Shalom were evacuated to the emergency medicine department in Soroka. Three of them are in serious condition, two in moderate condition. After initial stabilization of their condition in the trauma room, they were transferred to operating rooms.
Five other wounded are in a minor condition.

In new details regarding the event that are now allowed to be published, it was learned that 14 rocket launchers were fired from a Rafah towards IDF posts and assembly points in the Kerem Shalom area. Two of the PGMs caused the fatal injuries to the fighters in Camp Amitai, near Kibbutz Kerem Shalom. The injured fighters were on a security mission guarding the forces' equipment, equipment that was prepared for the planned entry into Rafah. This is not a gathering area for fighters, but security forces stationed in the area.

The IDF is investigating the incident and looking into two main issues: 1. Why were no interceptors launched at all at the Pazmars and none of them intercepted. 2. The IDF prepared for the possibility that Hamas would try to fire into this area, and there was an understanding that Hamas saw the deployment of forces towards Rafah. That is why there was a corresponding preparation: the number of soldiers on the spot was reduced to the required minimum, and shields were placed on the spot. Therefore, it will be necessary to check how, despite the preparation, there is such a high volume of casualties in the incident.

In addition to the two falls that hurt the fighters, there were also other falls. One in a real camp that caused a power pole to fall, a house in Kibbutz Kerem Shalom that suffered a direct hit and another fall in a storm outpost that caused damage without casualties.
