At the State Audit Committee chaired by Knesset member Miki Levy's discussion that is currently taking place (Monday) on the diplomatic-media struggle in the boycott movement and the manifestations of anti-Semitism abroad, the director general of the American Jewish Committee (AJC) Avital Leibovitz presented data from a new survey released today – Holocaust Day:
86% of French Jews feel under threat of an anti-Semitic attack, of which 56% testified that the fear is significant; About half (44%) testified that since October 7 they refrain from wearing items that betray their Jewishness such as a kippah or a Star of David necklace; And one in five testified that he removed the mezuzos outside his house so that he would not be attacked. In addition, every fourth Jew in France (25%) has been attacked on anti-Semitic grounds since October 7th.
In a survey conducted among the general public in France, it emerged that 76% believe that the phenomenon of anti-Semitism exists in the country, 34% are infected with anti-Semitic views – which means that one out of every three French people is anti-Semitic. Another horrifying figure: 6% of the French public expresses sympathy for Hamas.
