Gallant in Uzavat HaGilil: the mission in the north is not completed

Defense Minister Yoav Galant this morning (Wednesday) held a situation assessment in the 91st Division – the Galilee formation, together with the division's commander Lt. Col. Shay Claper and the division's headquarters officers. The Minister of Defense insisted on adapting the activities of the IDF forces in the face of the aggression of the Hezbollah forces, and on the attacks in Lebanese territory to thwart terrorists and damage terrorist infrastructures.

Minister Gallant spoke with reserve artillery fighters operating in the sector near the northern border and heard from them about their activities from the outbreak of the war to artillery strikes against Hezbollah targets in Lebanese territory.

Defense Minister Galant said in a conversation with the fighters: “A defensive battle is a complex battle, it is a battle in which you are constantly expecting the enemy's reactions and you are active. And I think that the entire division is carrying out this battle in an excellent way – we pushed Hezbollah from the contact lines to significant distances, this Doesn't mean he's gone, but he's not there.”

Minister Galant added: “In order to return the residents safely, an agreement process or an operational process is needed, and it is the duty of the army to prepare the operational process, which also serves as an anchor and anvil for another process. I am determined to return the residents to their homes safely and to rebuild the things that were destroyed.”

The Minister of Defense emphasized: “I am aware of the need and in many ways the feeling that the mission is not completed, and indeed it is not completed. War is something that has costs, it will be heavy for Israel and catastrophic for Hezbollah and Lebanon and we strive to reach a situation without reaching war, but if that is the starting point The latter, we will take it, because in the end we have an obligation to implement our contract with the citizens.”

The minister told the fighters: “We have very significant, very heavy fire arrays and we will make sure to activate them if there is a need and a reason. You have proven yourselves to date, I think in an impressive way, now we need to prepare for the rest and this summer may be a hot summer.”
