This is how the IDF prepared for the torch lighting ceremony on Independence Day

In preparation for the 76th Independence Day of the State of Israel, the IDF prepared for the torch lighting ceremony and at the end of two months of planning and rehearsals, about 180 flag bearers will march on the ceremony square to photograph the ceremony ahead of time and without an audience.

At a time when the IDF is in combat, the 76th Independence Day of the State of Israel will be celebrated. As every year, flag bearers from all the wings and commands in the IDF will take part in the beacon ceremony. The military part of the ceremony was adapted to all its components, with the leading compass for the seder exercises being memory and heroism.

The participants of the ceremony represent the Israeli mosaic – in all its parts and shades as a symbol of unity in the nation. Unlike previous years, the military part of the ceremony will open with the beat of drums and all the forms that the flag bearers will perform have been adapted to the spirit of the time and will be dedicated to the memory and strengthening of the Israeli spirit.

The commander of the ceremony, Lt. Col. (ret.) Shimon Deri said: “This year, the preparations for the ceremony of lighting the beacons and transferring the main flags were particularly complex. We adapted a significant part of the forms to the spirit of the time and gave expression to the memory and commemoration of the fallen. Unlike previous years, the entry of the flag bearers and all forms of remembrance will be accompanied To the beat of drums. We wish for the return of all the abductees home soon and for the recovery of all the wounded in the campaign.”
