Against the background of the messages from Qatar that they are considering to stop mediating in negotiations for a deal that will lead to the release of the kidnapped, the headquarters of the families of the kidnapped in New York demonstrated today (Friday) in front of the Qatari embassy in the city together with members of the families of the kidnapped and the actor Michael Rapaport.

Michael Rapaport said: “I know that a quarter of an hour from here there are shocking, anti-Semitic, anti-Israeli demonstrations, which receive much more media and attention, but the most important demonstration to be in is this one here: to fight for the lives of the kidnapped, to pressure Qatar to do the work it has committed to , to do everything for the abductees to return.”

He added and addressed the residents of New York: “I also sometimes feel like I'm talking to myself, but the presence at these demonstrations is so important! Six of the 133 abducted are New Yorkers who are still in Gaza for 196 days in the captivity of Hamas. We demand their release and we are strengthening the Their families who have been suffering for many months – we are with you and we will not give up and we will not stop demonstrating.”

Liat Ruban, the cousin of the abductee Omar Shem Tov, read verses from the Koran translated into English, including the quote: “Holding an innocent hostage is against the very heart of Islam and contradicts our values.”

Ruban appealed to Qatar's leadership and asked them to be leaders in the image of Allah and promote the deal for the release of the abductees soon, just as Islam teaches.

The demonstrators read the names of all 133 abductees and shouted “NOW!” After each name in front of the door of the Qatari consulate and ended the demonstration with the song of hope.
