The battle for the Labor leadership is heating up. The entrepreneur and businessman Avi Shaked announced today (Wednesday) that he will run for the leadership of the Labor Party in the upcoming primaries which will be held at the end of May. Shaked said that his decision to run comes as a result of a clear and immediate danger to the future of the party.

According to Shaked, the plan to connect labor with the Meretz party and other movements that have nothing to do with the values ​​of the labor party will lead to its deletion from the political map. Avi Shaked has been a member of the Labor Party for decades. Shaked was born and raised in Netanya, and holds a chemical engineering degree at Ben Gurion University.

In 1997 Shaked, together with his late brother Aharon, founded the international gambling site 888, which in those days was a ground-breaking Internet venture and became an unprecedented global success. The company currently operates in 200 countries around the world, and is traded on the London Stock Exchange.

Avi Shaked said: “Too many people in the party humbly accept that labor has finished its historic role – this is a huge mistake, and I am here to ensure that this does not happen. There is no doubt that many mistakes were made, the party distanced itself from its voters and became disconnected.”

As part of the announcement, Shaked revealed his political plan, a seven-step plan to end the conflict and promote peace and the regional position of the State of Israel at the center of his actions, according to him with the aim of repairing the tremendous damage caused to it by Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu and members of his government.
