Sources close to the Palestinian resistance (Hamas) express concern about the progress in the ceasefire negotiations with Israel. Thus, according to a report in the Lebanese newspaper Al-Akhbar, the opposition fears that Israel will set up new obstacles that will prevent a full agreement being reached. One of the main demands of Hamas is the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, and in particular from the depths of Gaza and the Netzer area.
The resistance demands full freedom of movement for the residents of the Gaza Strip, without restrictions on their movement between the north and the south of the Strip. Another requirement is that there will be no presence of foreign (non-Palestinian) entities in the Gaza Strip after the full Israeli withdrawal.
According to the report, Hamas was offered an “American-Egyptian guarantee” to ensure that Israel does not return to the war in the Strip after the ceasefire. Hamas demands that Turkey be a party to the agreement, and not just the United States, Egypt and Qatar. Especially since Washington, before Tel Aviv, refused to let Russia be an Arab party.
The Egyptian side is putting heavy pressure on Hamas to accept the American proposal, claiming that the Biden administration really wants to reach an agreement and is pressuring the Netanyahu government on this issue.
The next few hours will decide whether Hamas agrees to a truce, when the resistance sent a message to the mediators that a complete withdrawal of Israeli forces and guaranteeing freedom of movement are basic requirements that should not be exceeded.
