The deficit will continue to grow in the coming months

Today (Wednesday), the Accountant General of the Ministry of Finance, CPA Yali Rotenberg, participated in the economic conference of the Association of Treasurers in Local Authorities and spoke about the challenges that exist on the way to economic growth in light of the war and the harm of crime elements in state tenders “The amount of money that goes to crime elements from the state coffers can reach billions of shekels” .

On the subject of the deficit, Rotenberg said: “I predict that the trend of increasing the deficit will continue in the coming months, despite a better-than-expected revenue picture and the meaning of a high deficit is an increase in the government debt. The downward trend in the debt-to-GDP ratio and the responsible management of the government debt over the years are what allowed us the necessary financial flexibility to finance the government's activities”.

About the fight against crime in tenders, CPA Yali Rotenberg said: “We are witnessing a very disturbing phenomenon of criminal elements infiltrating the tenders of government companies and local authorities. This phenomenon of crime is widespread and begins already at the first stage of locating contractors through the tender itself, collection of sponsorship fees and crime in the worlds of building waste removal. This phenomenon cannot be accepted, it requires a persistent war.”
