The inspector tried to prevent violence and was brutally beaten

A bus inspector was attacked today (Sunday) in Jerusalem near the Ashfat gate. The attacker boarded the bus with his children from the front door, while pushing other passengers, including children. The visitor and the driver demanded that the passenger and his family members get off the bus and got off the bus themselves.

In response, the passenger attacked the visitor with his fists while cursing. The visitor was slightly injured. The attacker and his family fled the scene. A complaint was filed with the Jerusalem Police. The visitor who was attacked said: “The passenger rammed into the bus while literally running over and crushing children and babies and shouting. The driver and I made it clear to him that the bus would not move in such a situation. We would not endanger the passengers, and he responded by cursing and hitting.”

Yossi Ozan, Chairman of the Board of Visitors of Superbus, which is unionized by force for workers: “We in the union for transport by force for workers, repeat and warn – the murder of a bus worker is only a matter of time. To our dismay, instead of providing basic solutions, the finger of blame is pointed at us – we are the ones who are required to move Kashrut to deal with the public, we have reached a point where a person performing his duty is humiliated on a daily basis and puts his life at risk.”

Itai Cohen, head of the transportation branch by force for workers: “There is no justification for physical or verbal violence against the workers of the Tachz, but… when the wages are low, the status is poor and there is no response to the violence against the Tachz workers, is it any wonder that many, many people leave the industry? The direct result is overcrowding on buses, nervous passengers and God forbid.”
