About 70,000 hikers went for a walk in the national parks and nature reserves on the sunny Saturday after a week of rains across the country.

Orit Steinfeld, acting head of the Audience and Community Division, said "We saw many hikers going out into nature after a rainy week. This is definitely a great time to hike, to watch the strong currents in the northern streams, the winter pools filled with rainwater, and the beginning of winter flowering growth.

The most prominent sites: the Yarkon Tel Afek National Park with about 3,000 visitors, the Migdal Tzedek National Park with about 2,300 visitors, the Banias Nature Reserve with about 2,000 visitors and the Caesarea National Park with about 1,800 visitors.
